The menu takes the calls.

Takeout orders, reservations and “are you open Monday?” all ring mid-rush. A phone menu answers the questions on its own, sends takeout to whoever’s free and keeps reservation requests for when there’s a minute.

The menu

The questions every caller asks, answered without anyone leaving the floor.

The main menu: press 1 for takeout, the Takeout group; 2 for reservations, the reservation requests list; 3 for hours and directions, a menu of its own; 0 the host stand

The hours, in a voice you’d hire.

Type what callers should hear, pick a natural voice and listen before you save. When the hours change for the season, change the words. Each greeting shows where it plays, so nothing old is left talking.

The hours

Open, closed, Mondays off and the holidays, handled by the clock.

Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, open now until 10 PM; when closed, the After close greeting, then the bistro’s voicemail; Thanksgiving closed
What happens when someone calls the main line: during opening hours the menu, outside them the After close greeting and voicemail, and on each holiday

Closed is a greeting, not a dead line.

While you’re open, callers get the menu. After close, they hear tomorrow’s hours and can leave a message, written out and emailed for the morning. Thanksgiving and Christmas get greetings of their own.

Closing early for a private party? Close now from the portal or the iPhone app, and open again when you’re done.

The rush

When every hand is busy, no caller falls through.

  • Reservations wait their turnCallers press 2 and leave their number. The requests line up, and the host calls back to confirm when the first seating’s down.

The regulars

Texts from the number on your menus and your maps.

“Table for four at 7?”

Guests text the restaurant’s number, and the host stand replies from the browser or the app. Their calls sit in the same thread, so a missed call during the rush can get a text back in a minute.

  • One inbox for the team, with each thread assigned to whoever’s handling it.
  • Saved replies for “your order is ready” and the other texts you send every night.
  • An email when a text comes in, to whoever you choose.

Questions from restaurants.

Can we change the hours greeting ourselves?
Yes. Type the new hours, pick a voice and hear it before you save. Or record it yourself, or upload a file.
Can calls ring the host stand and the bar?
Yes. A ring group rings the phones you choose together, and the first free person answers.
Do reservation requests go into our booking system?
Callers leave their number on a reservation requests list, and your team calls back to confirm in your own book.
Can we close early for a private event?
Yes. Close now from the portal or the iPhone app, and callers hear your closed greeting until you open again.
Are cordless phones available?
Yes. DECT cordless handsets roam the floor and the kitchen. Add them at checkout.

Keep the number on your menus and maps.

Check that it can come to Kafono, and we’ll set up the phone menu with you.
