One call. The right phones ring.

A ring group is one number that rings several phones, all at once or one after another, for as long as you choose. If nobody answers, the call goes where you said.

A sample group with made-up names. Here a ring takes under a second; a real one takes about six.

Who gets the first ring? You decide.

Eight calls to the same four phones, four ways. Lime is whoever rings first on that call, and each number is the place they ring in.

Cell phones, without the voicemail trap.

A personal cell can join any group, but its voicemail picks up too, and then the call is theirs. Press 1 to accept keeps your calls where they belong. Try it.

When Alex’s cell rings

Alex’s voicemail answers for your business. The other phones stop, and your customer leaves a message on Alex’s own phone, where nobody at work can hear it.

Voicemail can’t press 1. After 8 seconds that phone is let go and the call moves on. Your customer just hears it ringing.

Alex is straight through. Fine on the day they pick up. On the day they don’t, it’s their voicemail.

One press and the call is Alex’s. The other phones stop. Your customer just hears it ringing until then.

Set it for the whole group, or only for the cell phones in it.

Nobody answers? You already said what happens.

Once everyone has finished ringing: a message if you like, then where the call goes.

If nobody answers: Message first, No message; Then, Front desk voicemail

Point two groups at each other and the portal stops you, in so many words: “This would loop: Reception → Overflow → Reception.”

What you see. What they hear.

On a member’s phone

A short word before the caller’s name says which group the call came through, before anyone picks up. Type one.

Only on your company’s phones; a phone number in the group shows what its carrier shows. Keep it short: many phones show 15 to 20 characters.

What callers hear

A greeting first, if you’d like one, played before anyone rings. Then, while it rings:

Customize

How long phones ring and Press 1 are the group’s. A member differs only as an exception, with its own Joins after, Rings for and Press 1, and the chart moves as you change it.

Does the order work? Now you can check.

Insights counts every ring: who picks up, who lets it ring, the ring they answer on and who covers which hours. Owners and admins see it for each group.

More on call analytics
Does the order work? Rung first, 65% picked up; rung second, 55%; rung third, 56%
Insights for the Support group, in plain words, and Who picks up: Sam Patel 70%, Priya Shah 21%, Nina Flores 10%, with who let it ring and who was busy

Questions before it rings.

What’s the difference from a call queue?
A ring group rings phones straight away. A queue holds callers in line with music and offers a callback while they wait for the next free person.
How long can a call ring?
You set it in rings, and a ring is about 6 seconds. One member can ring for up to 20 rings, and a call can ring for up to three minutes in all before it goes where you said.
How many phones can be in a group?
Up to 20 members, each an extension or an outside phone number. An extension rings everywhere that person has it: desk phones, the app and the browser.
What if someone’s on Do not disturb, or already on a call?
Someone on Do not disturb isn’t rung. Someone on a call hears call waiting, as they would for any call. If nobody in the group can be rung, the call goes straight to what you set for nobody answering.
What if a phone in the group is offline?
It doesn’t ring, and the rest of the group carries on. Switch the list to Right now and it shows which phones are offline this minute and what that means for the group’s calls.
Can one person be in several groups?
Yes. See every group a person belongs to from their extension, or the By person view.
Who can change a group?
Owners and admins. Everyone else can read who rings in each group, and changes nothing.

Choose who rings. Then let it ring.

Check your business number. Ring groups come with business phone, along with queues and a phone menu.
